Denver’s Ron Miles, a legend in the vibrant American jazz scene throughout the 1980s and ‘90s died Friday following a long battle with kidney cancer. Miles, who attended East High School and the University of Denver, started his professional career in 1977 as a 17-year-old trumpet player with bassist Harvie Swartz’s Octet.
